Experience the Majestic Powerscourt Golf Club
Powerscourt Golf Club lies just thirty minutes south of Dublin, nestled within the breathtaking and picturesque landscape of one of Europe's finest estates, lies Powerscourt, which is renowned as one of Ireland's premier golfing resorts. The Powerscourt estate, a remarkable location, has been in the possession of the distinguished Slazenger family since 1961 and is particularly famous for its stunning, meticulously maintained gardens and the tallest waterfall in Ireland, which adds to its charm. In the early 1990s, an impressive 18-hole championship course was developed within the expansive 1,000-acre estate, enhancing its allure. Designed by Peter McEvoy, a talented golfer and former Walker Cup captain, the course gracefully follows the natural contours of this historic landscape, providing a challenging and rewarding experience for golfers of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned professionals. Since its grand opening in 1996, the East Course has truly earned a reputation as one of the finest golf courses in all of Ireland. Just two years after it opened its doors, it proudly hosted the prestigious Smurfit Irish PGA Championship, and in 2001, it served as the esteemed venue for the AIB European Senior Tour. Notable features of the course include its contoured, undulating greens, the varying yet captivating moods of the course throughout different weather conditions, and the enticing rewards that await those adventurous enough to take calculated risks. The West Course, designed by the talented David McLay Kidd—well-known for the acclaimed Bandon Dunes in Oregon—beautifully complements the East by offering a new set of challenging holes while showcasing the stunning, dramatic scenery of the Powerscourt Estate. "My intention was to create a challenging course that would also allow the occasional golfer to enjoy themselves without feeling overwhelmed," Kidd explains. "The fairways are relatively wide, and the greens are slightly larger than usual, providing a welcoming atmosphere for all."
